Midwives' Association of Washington State (MAWS) is a nonprofit professional organization representing midwives statewide.
We invite midwives, health professionals, and families to join us in creating a vital and collaborative perinatal healthcare system. All members receive an annual report, electronic newsletters, discounts to conferences and all are welcome to attend meetings.
Our vision is to establish midwifery as the highest standard of care for all healthy individuals during the childbearing cycle.
Our activities focus on promoting public awareness of midwifery as a safe and valid choice for perinatal care. We develop professional standards, provide continuing education and peer review opportunities and promote accountability through our state-approved quality management program. Our lobbying and advocacy efforts have resulted in better health care options for pregnant people and increased professional recognition of midwives across the state.
Full professional members of MAWS include Licensed Midwives and Certified Nurse Midwives. Associate members, an important part of the organization, include a wide range of health professionals, students, providers of midwife-friendly services and consumers who share an interest in midwifery.
